Autumn 2019 Hands-on Self-Publishing Course at Davitt College Castlebar, Co. Mayo
Next course signup 8pm Thursday 5th September 2019 at Davitt College, Castlebar This is a hands-on course, conducted at Davitt College, Castlebar, where you will be walked through turning your own manuscript and into an actual printed book and into an eBook using your own laptop. The last evening of the course will be conducted at Books@One in Louisburgh, where your book will (optionally) be printed. You will finish the course with a copy of your own book in your hands. The objective of the course is to give you the skills and tools you need to print your book locally and/or set it up online, and sell it to the world Instructor:
Do you have an idea for a book? Do you have a manuscript and are uncertain what the next steps are in getting it into the hands of a reader? Are you an instructor or specialist and have been asked about further reading? Or would you like to produce a cookbook or family history as a Christmas gift for your family? Alex Blackwell has worked his way through all of these scenarios. He has also been a book printer and has self-published several of his own fiction and non-fiction books. "This was a

grateful than I can express.” Prerequisites:· Hardware o You will need to bring your own laptop to the course o PC or Mac are ok · Software o A full working version of either Microsoft Word or OpenOffice should be loaded on your computer § No trial versions of software o You should have a working knowledge of how to use your software. · Manuscript o You should have written at least a rough book manuscript § Fiction, Non-fiction, poetry collection or short story collection, etc. o A classic manuscript can be supplied if needed
